St. Mary's #51 Reconsecration

Today was a great day for St. Mary's Chapter. We did the reconsecration and then they did a nice program on the history of the Chapter and had a great meal afterward. MEC Kermit Zimmerman came up to be with them and the Grand Officers for the reconsecration. Everything was well planned out by the Chapter and they were definitely prepared in addition to doing some good publicity and enjoyed a great turnout for the event.

Ohio Grotto Zone Conference

Today was our Zone Conference (a state meeting) for the Grotto and I attended today in Zanesville. It was a well attended meeting and I was lucky enough to receive my Roadrunner Award for having visited all Grottos in the Ohio Association. I went to 26 different one's to get this award including 1 in Kentucky, 1 in West Virginia and 3 in Pennsylvania. Now I'm starting on the second round which I hope to get by next year as I will probably be too busy with Grand Chapter late next year and the next to do much traveling for Grotto.

Tonight in Mansfield was the GHP Reception for MEC Keith Green who along with the Grand Marshal Bill Windnagel, Grand Principal Sojouner Rod Carr, GM1V  Robert Nilsen and PGHP MEC Bob Blankenhorn were also present.  REC Ryan Adams was also trying to attend but was delayed in traffic and couldn't make it. Since I got a few pictures I will let them tell the story.

Miami Valley York Rite College

Tonight was our annual meeting and elections in Lebanon. The meeting was well attended and several topics discussed. We also had elections and installation as I was installed as Deputy Governor. As there are numerous dignitaries in our College who were attending I wont name them all but 3 PGHP's MEC Kermit Zimmerman, MEC Steve Duncan and MEC George Shell were all in attendance. Also another Grand Chapter officer, REC Ron Hart Sr., was also elected to the next position in our College. REC Robert May was elected and installed as Governor.

Achbar Grotto Stated Meeting

Tonight I travelled to Columbus for the stated meeting of Achbar Grotto and to discuss some business I have with the Supreme office since I knew the Executive Director is a member at this Grotto.. I was able to give him the good news that our paperwork for the IRS has been turned in. They had a very good turnout and I saw a few Chapter guys at the meeting. Their DD was also in attendance and gave them some brief comments.

Lebanon Chapter 5 Inspection

Tonight was the last inspection in my district and the last for REC Claude Siebel. We had a first time High Priest this evening which is always nice to see. They needed a little help but did have an actual candidate for the evening. My Chapter again won the traveling award with 8 in attendance. The inspection season is winding down so I will be heading to more stated meetings around the state.

Horeb-Wright Dedication

Today was the dedication and 200th Anniversary of Horeb-Wright Chapter. It also turned out to be my first chance to play Grand High Priest for the day as neither Our Grand High Priest or Grand King were able to attend. A short presentation on the history of the Chapter was presented at the end of the ceremony. Our Grand photographer took pictures and got a couple of me in the lead chair.

Tonight was our Inspection at the Grotto with Tom Schliep as our District Deputy. We passed all aspects including the Secretary/Treasurer's book (that's me). We are small in number but still were able to open and close with those present and three who usually come were not able tonight.

Roy Livesay Viewing

Today was the viewing for a lifelong Mason and friend. He helped out Grand Lodge, Scottish Rite and myself when I was Potentate as the money man for events. Roy was always good with the finances and administration part of the job. He was also the Director for the Past Master's Unit in the Shrine for many years including when I was Potentate.

Grotto Work

I hope the paperwork I have filled out is sufficient and we can get the Grotto back in good graces with the IRS. It turned out to be more difficult and more work than I had anticipated and I had to skip the Hi 12 meeting I planned to go to today to finish this up. Well I guess we will see after I send it in with the money if it does the trick!

Potentates Ball

Tonight was the Antioch Shrine Potentates Ball at Austin Landing  near Miamisburg. It was a nice event and this was the first time we held an activity here as it is a newer venue. There was a nice crowd and all seemed to have a good time. Pictures didn't end up turning out well due to the lighting but I did get one from someone else.

Grotto Work

Well I started work on an involved process today to get our Grotto in good standing with the IRS. Unfortunately in years past they slipped on filling out some paperwork and we are now in arrears with them. Hopefully I can recreated all the forms this weekend.

3rd District School

Well I haven't left the country, we just went to our Daughter's place in Tennessee and spent a little time there. I tried to attend a couple Masonic activities while I was there but unfortunately no one showed up for the meetings.Tonight was our school of instruction for incoming High Priest for the 3rd District in Miamisburg. The turnout was not quite as we had hoped for but the information provided was good. Refreshments were provided for all in attendance and we were able to finish at a reasonably early time.
